Swami Vivekananda seems to be a popular genre in Hyderabad. Hitler isn’t. My friend and photographer Sriharsha Vadlamani feels that Swami Vivekananda books are bought but no one reads them. 

The Telephone Bhavan / BSNL Bhavan is an interesting building in the Charles Correa Style and will remind you of the LIC building or Vishweshwariah Tower in Bangalore.

Don’t forget to have chai at any of the Hyderabadi tea joints in the area. We went to Tehran opposite the secretariat.

Identity seems to be important for Hyderabad. This is the caste supremacist side of the city.

HFL

High Flood Level or HFL that was reached on 22nd September, 1908 when the Musi river broke its banks. It was one of the biggest clamities that struck the street that led to the redesigning of the drainage in and around the city, the building of the tanks that controlled the waters and with the help of Dr M Vishveshwariah from neighbouring Mysore.

This was the Masiamma temple which is fortified and now taken over by right wing upper caste supremacist groups.

The famous and endless Abids footpath bookmarket isn't probably as large as it used to be or the books are varied. But it survives. This was on a Sunday evening. The best time to visit in a Sunday Morning.

I roamed around Hyderabad and Secunderabad on a Sunday and I didn't see or notice a single crow during the whole time. For a person from Mumbai who is used to seeing crows everywhere, it was a shock. The reason I was looking for crows was because my friends Harsha Vadlamani and Aditya Mopur told me that it is rare to see crows in their city. However you have a lot of pigeons and other birds.
